starwright
A downloadable game for Windows
STARWRIGHT
Seed the void · run the lanes · hold the line.
A space sandbox with a shared universe: trade the lanes, fight when deals go bad, jump between procedurally-laid star systems, and drop to a planet — or a station deck — on foot, solo or with friends in the same world.
RUNNING IT
Starwright.exe
HOST A FRONTIER starts a world. Hosting alone is single player; there is no separate mode and nothing is missing from it.
JOIN A FRIEND asks for the IP of whoever is hosting.
Your callsign and password together ARE your account. The first time you use a callsign it registers with the password you typed; after that the server will refuse the wrong one rather than hand over that pilot's credits, cargo, reputation and ship garage. Passwords are hashed (PBKDF2-SHA256, per-account salt) and the world saves survive a restart.
PLAYING WITH FRIENDS
The host opens UDP port 7777. On a home network that means a port forward on the host's router, or a LAN game, or a VPN like Tailscale / Hamachi. Everyone needs the same build.
CONTROLS
Everything is rebindable — SETTINGS ▸ CONTROLS, on the title screen or from the pause menu. Keyboard and gamepad bindings are both live at once; rebinding one leaves the other alone. Out of the box:
FLYING
MOUSE aim (yaw / pitch)
W / S throttle up / down
A / D roll
Q / E strafe
SPACE fire
TAB cycle target
N nav boxes SHIFT (hold, aimed) FTL jump
M galaxy map C camera X flight assist
G land H dock F mine / use
K trade Y contracts U faction standing
B build L loadout
ESC pause
ON FOOT
WASD move MOUSE aim
SPACE fire R reload V V.A.T.S.
F use / talk — and, standing in the airlock, undock
ESC pause (the menu has the way back to your ship on it)
GAMEPAD
Left stick flies and walks, right stick looks; A fires, B uses, X reloads, Y cycles target, shoulders strafe, Start confirms. The rest is on the CONTROLS screen, drawn as the actual pad buttons.
SAVES AND SETTINGS
Worlds and pilots are saved by whoever is hosting, next to the executable. Settings and key bindings are per-machine (Windows registry, under Doublehash\Starwright), so they follow you between worlds.
CREDITS
Ships, stations, planets, weapons and the whole rigged crew were generated on one local GPU through asset-forge (ComfyUI + Blender: concept → mesh → texture → auto-rig → Mixamo clips). Nothing in the art was bought per-asset and nothing left the machine.
Third-party assets in the build: the Sci-Fi Corridor kit (station interiors), Kenney's Input Prompts (the keycap and pad-button glyphs), the Robtronika typeface, and a free sci-fi weapon and warp-effect pack.
