PELIA - A DESKTOP SUCCUBUS PET

She lives on your desktop, chases your mouse, and has opinions about it. Pelia is a tiny native desktop pet for Windows and Linux: a pixel-art succubus who walks around on top of everything you're doing, follows your cursor across all your monitors, reacts when you click her, and complains at you in Win95-style speech bubbles.

No launcher, no installer, no Electron. One small native binary and a few MB of RAM.

SHE HAS HER OWN LIFE

She isn't glued to your pointer. Pick how much attention she wants:

- Clingy - the classic desktop pet: always chasing your cursor.

- Independent (default) - roams the desktop on her own, wanders over to visit when you come near or every half-minute or so, then goes back to her own business.

- Performer - ignores you completely, roams and puts on multi-pose shows.

MOODS, AND HOW YOU EARN THEM

A hidden Affection / Irritation model drives four moods, and each one changes how she moves, what she says, and which animation plays:

  Curious  -  Smitten  -  Furious  -  Lonely

Keep the cursor near her and move gently and she warms up. Yank it around and she gets the whip out. Leave her alone in a corner too long and she gets lonely and tells you so. Click her for a mood-dependent reaction: a whip crack when she's furious, a flinch and a little forgiveness when she's lonely, hearts and a pose otherwise.

She also comments on what you're doing - she recognizes browsers, editors, terminals, chat, media and games in your foreground window and ribs you about it. All hand-written quip banks, per character. No AI, no network, no telemetry.

SIX SUCCUBI, ~28 ANIMATIONS EACH

Pelia, Morgana, Eisheth, Lilith, Lilim and Mother - each with her own palette, her own portrait, and her own personality in the speech bubbles: Pelia's flirty possessiveness, Morgana's haughty sorcery, Eisheth's cool teasing, Lilith's ancient menace, Lilim's brattiness, Mother's smothering. Idle, walk, run, fly, jump, whip and whip-attack, kicks, flinch, knockback, luring, sitting, kneeling, gargoyle, lying poses, death, burn-up and more - she works through her whole pose library on a timer when you leave her undisturbed.

DRESS THE DESKTOP UP

- Pet companions - give her a doggy, a fox or a wisp; it trots along beside her.

- Head accessories - witch hat, bunny ears, santa hat, cap.

- Random cameos - another succubus fades in somewhere on screen, strikes a pose with a caption, and fades out again.

- Summon the coven - bring the whole roster out at once, each roaming in her own  window. (Windows)

- Scale her from 1x to 6x, live.

THE PELIA.EXE WINDOW & THE 7 CIRCLES OF HELL

Flip her from Overlay into Window mode and she gets a Win95 app window to live in - a little stage where you can spawn slimes for her to hunt and whip, drop fleeing goddesses for her to chase, and watch her collect the coins they drop.

Or turn on Hell: the stage becomes a side-scrolling circle of hell with a parallax themed sky, the circle's own roster of the damned, structures to platform across, weather, and a camera that follows her. Seven circles, from the grey silence of Limbo to the lava-shot depths - plus giant and devil bosses.

Pick a circle or hit Shuffle.

You can even drag files onto her and she'll eat them.

THE "PELIA 98" CONTROL PANEL

Everything is in reach from a draggable Win95 panel: her portrait and live mood meters, character swatches, display mode, a pose picker with a Play button, size, pet, accessory, stage spawns and the hell circles. Skinned with the Retro Windows GUI kit.

HOW SHE'S BUILT

She's drawn onto a per-pixel-alpha, always-on-top window - a WS_EX_LAYERED window (UpdateLayeredWindow) on Windows, an ARGB override-redirect window on X11. That's the OS-blessed, flicker-free way to do this. Both clients are native Rust from one codebase: no webview, no browser engine, no background services.

Clicks land on her body and fall straight through the transparent pixels to whatever's behind her, so she never gets in your way.

REQUIREMENTS

Windows - Windows 10/11. Unzip and run Pelia.exe. Nothing to install.

Linux - X11, or Xwayland (which ships with GNOME/KDE Wayland sessions), with a running compositor (mutter, kwin, picom...) for per-pixel transparency. Needs libinput, libudev, libX11, libxcb. Unzip, chmod +x pelia, run it.
